Deluxe Stampede String
This 4-plait stampede string is hand-crafted by the cowboy, Hooey, on his ranch in Idaho. The two kangaroo leather braids are held together with a pineapple sliding knot. Two cotter pins slide between the sweatband and the hat body. Once bent, they provide a secure attachment of the stampede string. Hand crafted in the USA.

Cowboy Hooey
Hooey is a cowboy who takes care of a ranch in Idaho. When he has time available, he braids fine leather. Each piece involves a lot of effort. After stretching the leather, he uses razor blades to size it down to specific widths. He then splits the leather so it has a uniform thickness. Once that is finished, he bevels each side to exact specifications, leading to a superbly crafted work.

Attaching a Stampede String: Step by Step
Follow the steps below to easily attach our stampede string to your hat. If you are purchasing a stampede string and Akubra hat, Panama hat or Lizard Head Hat at the same time and would like us to attach the stampede string to the hat, please request that service in the Special Instructions box during Check Out. We are happy to do so.
Our Stampede String has two cotter pins which slide between the sweatband and the hat body for easy attachment to a hat. 
Hold the cotter pins tightly together and push them through the stitching where the sweatband meets the body. 
Pull the pins completely through the base of the sweatband until the braid is firmly against the sweatband. 
Spread the pins outward, as close to horizontal as possible. 
Check by tugging on the braid.
