Chin Strap or Stampede String?
Chin straps, known in cattle country as stampede strings, ensure against loss of your hat in wind or brush. Akubra has discontinued manufacturing hats with chin strap hooks apart from the Aussie Slouch. Unless you are purchasing an Aussie Slouch, one of our few remaining Akubra Hats with Chin Strap Hooks or own an older hat with chin strap hooks we recommend our Stampede String rather than the Chin Strap.
If you purchased an Akubra without Chin Strap Hooks or one of our other fine styles of hats, we recommend our Stampede String.
If you have an Akubra not purchased from us, you will have to check to see if it has chin strap hooks inside the crown. The chin strap hooks are put on the Akubra hats especially for us, and many Akubra's available elsewhere do not have the hooks. Our Stampede String is a good alternative for most hats without chin strap hooks.

Tuck the lining back under the sweatband.
