Attaching a New Whip Cracker

Whip crackers need replacing from time to time. There are several knots for attaching the cracker to the fall. The following method of attachment is easy, and gives a secure knot.

1. Put the end of the fall through the twisted end of the cracker.

    end of the cracker.
2. Put a half hitch on the end of the fall with the cracker, placing the hitch next to the end of the cracker on the the side away from the end of the fall, and with the end of the cracker coming from the hitch towards the end of the fall.

3. With the end of the cracker attached to a hook, hold the end of the fall with pliers, the main section with the other hand, and pull the knot tight.

4. Finish tightening with a strong pull on the fall only (no pliers).

5. Trim off the end of the fall.
